I finally went to the Ko Adang viewpoint yesterday! After being on Ko Lipe for 4 years, it was about time.
Now that I’ve done it, I can’t believe I put it off for so long, considering what a quick and easy trip it was. We did the trip, including the boat ride to Ko Adang, in 2 hours. We didn’t rush but did work up a good sweat during the uphill hike. Wearing sneakers or hiking boots is preferable, especially during the downhill part, but scuba diving booties also work fine. Doing the hike in flip-flops or sandals is possible but not ideal, as there are some steep and slippery rocks, as well as mud if it’s rained recently. Bring water, wear a hat and/or sunscreen, and most importantly bring your camera!
We got a taxi boat on Sunrise Beach at the “stand” in front of the school, where we negotiated a price of 100 baht per person to take us there and pick us up in two hours

Quick visit to the toilets before starting the hike
At the start of the trail with signs showing the way
It took us about 10 minutes to reach viewpoint 1
15 hot and sweaty minutes later, we arrived at the viewpoint 2, where we hydrated and rested for a few minutes before the continuing onto viewpoint 3
15 minutes later, we finally made it to viewpoint 3
Not too bad of a view eh?
With Eric’s family
You wouldn’t believe how beautiful the ocean looks from up here, you can see all the different shades of blue and turquoise and green
We stayed at viewpoint 3 for 15 minutes, then we started the journey back down, which while less strenuous than going up, is a little tricker because of the steep rocks and sometimes slippery mud
It took us about 20 minutes to go down and when we got to the beach, our taxi boat was already there waiting for us, how’s that for good timing!
I hope it won’t be another 4 years before I do the viewpoint again!
