Up until three days ago, we’ve had sunny, dry and incredibly hot weather here in Satun. Then the rain started. We woke up to some sun this morning and thought, ok, maybe it was just a passing storm system, but after checking on the boat earlier this afternoon, the rain started again. This is not good news!!! Ok, so we’re not constantly sweating to death in our hot-as-hell, non-air-conditioned house anymore. But we’d rather be sweating knowing that the boat builders can work quickly. When it rains, they can’t work, meaning more delays…
We still haven’t found a cargo boat to bring all of the building materials to Koh Lipe. Apparently they’ve all been booked up months in advance by the big resorts. It’s unbelievably frustrating! We need construction to start already, I mean, it’s July and time is starting to run out…
Well, there is some good news to report. Despite the rain, the boat builders have managed to make progress:
1. They put in the stairs
2. Finished walling off the front part of the lower deck
3. Completed the ceiling on the upper deck.
Now that the outer structure is just about complete, we’re finally getting an idea of how big she will be. BIG!
